In order to understand her transgressor’s actions and motivation, the artist documented relevant places, interviewed witnesses, hired a private investigator, and surveilled Erin Hart, photographing her as she was released from jail. Using photography, video and other means to document and understand the full arc of the identity theft, Lovell gained empathy for her identity thief.
