Between two mountain ranges in Northern Eritrea, dozens of young Eritrean Refugees spend their days making paintings that tell the stories of their experiences. In their artworks they are able to express their longing for lost loved ones, traumatic memories of persecution, and stories of their families and friends who have taken perilous journeys. Mebratu, their 45 year-old teacher, provokes them to make art that inspires social change.

“Painting keeps history alive, transmits information from one generation to another and express ideas and feelings. These paintings raise awareness and can prevent others from tragedy. There is nothing better than creating conversation.”

Artists In Motion is an initiative of The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS), an international Catholic organization with a mission to accompany, serve and advocate on behalf of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons. In 50 countries, JRS programs provide assistance to refugees in camps and cities, individuals displaced within their own countries, and those held in detention centers. In Northern Ethiopia, JRS provides Eritrean refugee youth with opportunities to learn and express themselves by providing a library, sports facility, and classes in painting, dance, music and drama. The Artists in Motion Painters are students of the JRS fine arts course.

Babson Campus
12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Zumba

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Originally created by Alberto “Beto” Perez in Columbia, Zumba® is a Latin inspired dance fitness class that combines interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms to sculpt and tone your body while burning fat.  Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.  Zumba® fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in every calorie-burning, body-energizing class.  This class is perfect for all fitness levels and no dance experience is necessary!

Zumba®Toning - For those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles!  It works by utilizing the challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba®Toning Sticks or light weights, which helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged!  By using lightweight maraca-like toning sticks or light weights, Zumba Toning enhances sense of rhythm and coordination, while toning target zones, including arms, core and lower body.

So, join Dawn George, certified dance and Zumba instructor, as she leads you through the latest in fitness fun.  What are you waiting for?  Ditch the workout....join the party!
