5:00 PM - 7:00 PM "Sightlines" Artist Talk by David Akiba
Please join us for David Akiba's "Sightlines" Artist Talk on April 4th, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Hollister Gallery. During "the fraction of a second that the shutter is open" David Akiba's telephoto lens captures solitary figures as they travel through a nearly unpopulated urban landscape. The aerial viewpoint creates a layered space in the photographs that echoes the experience of moving through a city. In his images of bridges, bus stations, and airports "the places people pass through" rather than the places people go, Akiba captures surprising moments of solitude in Boston and Chelsea. David Akiba received his MFA from RISD. He is work is in the collections of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, The Library of Congress, The Fogg Art Museum, The Brooklyn Art Museum, The Decordova Museum and other public and private collections. http://davidakiba.weebly.com/ Will be showing work from the "In Plain Sight" Series http://claralieu.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/thursday-spotlight-david-akiba/ "Sightlines" runs from March 26 to May 25, 2013.
