All Day SVAC Open Studio in Trim 215 (Multi-Day Event)
SVAC Open Studio; TRIM 215 is available as an Open Studio Monday through Sunday evenings and all day Friday Saturday and Sunday.
6:00 AM - 7:15 AM Wellness-Masters Swim
The Babson Masters Swim Program is a swim program for adults.  Some people use it for fitness or to have fun, while others use it to train to compete in swim meets or other competitions such as triathlons.  Each practice is guided by a swim coach, and instruction and feedback are offered to participants.

6:30 AM - 7:20 AM Wellness-Bootcamp
FACULTY AND STAFF
Boot Camp is a 50 minute, two day a week program designed to improve your cardio endurance, build strength and induce weight loss.  The personalized approach to group exercise makes the class fun and motivating in pursuit of results and your personal goals.  Instructor Craig Paris uses a variety of body weight exercises, resistance bands, agility drills, running, and plyometric training to activate multiple muscle groups and burn the maximum amount of calories during class.

A student-guided tour is a wonderful way to see Babson’s extensive facilities (including a dorm room, classroom, and dining hall), talk with current students, and see our community in action. 

Pre-registration is not required. Tours depart from the Lunder Admission Center at Mustard Hall. Parking is available in designated spaces in the Lunder Parking Lot or Knight Parking Lot. Adult Learn to Skate (LTS) – Ages 18 and older: 30 minute class: Beginner through Freestyle 3 Level.

*Participants are divided based upon skating ability & Age.
*We DO NOT guarantee that siblings and/or friends will be in the same class.
*Please arrive early to allow time to secure skates and find your instructor.
*Helmets are strongly recommended for beginners.
*Dress appropriately with layers and gloves or mittens.
*Properly fitted, supportive skates are essential to progress.
*Figure skates are recommended for beginners.
*No REFUNDS and No CREDITS without a doctor’s note.               
*No MAKE-UP classes.
*Classes may be cancelled, added, or combined due to enrollment.
*Same-day registrations will NOT be accepted.
*In the event of inclement weather, or rink closure, no refunds will be issued
*Classes are held on most school and religious holidays.
*A parent/guardian must remain in the facility during classes.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a gentle exercise for body and mind.  With its roots in Chinese martial arts and traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi uses slow and gentle movements to build your balance, strength, flexibility and focus.  No matter your age or physical condition, you can practice Tai Chi.  Scientific studies support the effectiveness of Tai Chi in improving the lives of people with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, and osteoporosis.  Most of all, Tai Chi is relaxing and fun.  So come as you are, in comfortable clothes, with flat-soled shoes.  You will learn the basic principles of Tai Chi as well as exercises and a short form you will be able to practice on your own.  The course will be taught by faculty member Carolyn Hotchkiss, who has studied Yang and Sun style Tai Chi for five years, and is certified to teach Tai Chi for Arthritis.

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Originally created by Alberto “Beto” Perez in Columbia, Zumba® is a Latin inspired dance fitness class that combines interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms to sculpt and tone your body while burning fat.  Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.  Zumba® fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in every calorie-burning, body-energizing class.  This class is perfect for all fitness levels and no dance experience is necessary!

Bruce T. Herring, CFA

Bruce Herring is group chief investment officer of the Global Asset Allocation division (GAA) within Fidelity Asset Management. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing and other financial products and services to more than 20 million individuals, institutions and financial intermediaries.

Mr. Herring assumed his current role in January 2013 and has overall responsibility for  GAA’s portfolio management capabilities. His responsibilities include establishing and refining investment strategies and processes, collaborating across Asset Management to draw on capabilities in equity, bond and money markets, overseeing open architecture solutions and partnering with the GAA team on delivering a robust product roadmap.

Mr. Herring joined Fidelity in 1987 as a research analyst following the banking, insurance, conglomerate and supermarket industries.  He managed Select Financial Services Portfolio and Select Insurance Portfolio from 1990 to 1993.  He served first as portfolio assistant and then co-manager of Fidelity Global Balanced Fund from 1993 to 1995.  From 1995 to 1997, Mr. Herring served as associate director and then director of research in Fidelity's Tokyo office.  In this role, he had overall responsibility for all research, including the management of research analysts and associates in Fidelity’s Tokyo office.  Mr. Herring was director of U.S. equity research from 1997 to 2000.  From January 2001 to July 2005, Mr. Herring was a portfolio manager for U.S. equity funds and accounts available exclusively to non-US investors.  He began his current responsibilities in August 2005.

Born in 1965, Mr. Herring received a bachelor of science degree in finance and investment from Babson College in 1987.  He is a Chartered Financial Analyst  (CFA) charterholder.

The Babson Leadership For Excellence Club presents the Executive Leadership Series. The first speaker is John Dragoon, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH). Mr. Dragoon will be speaking about how to Manage the Sales and Marketing Divide. Prior to joining HMH, Mr. Dragoon worked for Novell as CMO, Art Technology Group, Internet Capital Group and IBM. His extensive experience includes marketing, strategy, venture financing and product development. Come and learn the skills you need to be successful.

Our Hockey class is designed to work on the skating skills without sticks. We are working to improve your basic skating edges, speed and power. Some skills/drills may utilize a hockey stick, but the primary focus is without a hockey stick.

 *Skaters are divided up by abilty and age

*We DO NOT guarantee that friends or siblings will have the same teacher

*Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early

*A parent/guardian MUST remain in the building during any and all classes

*The Babson Skating Center has a NO Refund or Credit policy. In the case of an injury, a Doctors note must be given to recieve a refund or credit
