The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Originally created by Alberto “Beto” Perez in Columbia, Zumba® is a Latin inspired dance fitness class that combines interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms to sculpt and tone your body while burning fat.  Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.  Zumba® fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in every calorie-burning, body-energizing class.  This class is perfect for all fitness levels and no dance experience is necessary!

Zumba®Toning - For those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles!  It works by utilizing the challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba®Toning Sticks or light weights, which helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged!  By using lightweight maraca-like toning sticks or light weights, Zumba Toning enhances sense of rhythm and coordination, while toning target zones, including arms, core and lower body.

So, join Dawn George, certified dance and Zumba instructor, as she leads you through the latest in fitness fun.  What are you waiting for?  Ditch the workout....join the party!

7:00 AM - 8:00 AM Wellness-Power Yoga with Lauren Shaffer

Lauren Shaffer found yoga in 2011 as a stressed out college student in need of a calm and quiet spot to unwind. As a teacher, her mission is to provide students with a safe, sacred space with her guidance, knowledge and tools offered as support. She loves to teach a variety of classes from restorative to power, all of which tie breath with movement to a well thought out and sequenced flow. She includes the solid backbones of the practice—like functional movement and energetic organization—always presented with lightheartedness as she accommodate all levels. She also loves to bring some fun into her classes. Lauren’s focus is to ensure her students leave with their bodies feeling stronger, as well as a clearer mind helping them take on the rest of their day with a smile!

Please note that anyone participating in any of the Be Well@Babson programs must sign a waiver before beginning any program or activity.  Classes may fill up and are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  All of the Be Well@Babson programs are limited to Babson staff and faculty only and there are no exceptions that can be made.

7:30 PM - 10:00 PM GEW: Reshaping the Fitness Industry with Robert Shapiro (SplitFit, BodyScapes)
Register here >>

One2One BodyScapes and BodyScapes Fitness were born from a genuine desire to create fitness environments that focus exclusively on the client. As a personal trainer for many years, founder Robert Shapiro felt as though the philosophy and approach that many gyms and training facilities were taking was incongruous with creating a welcoming, approachable atmosphere of qualified and engaged trainers focused on the personal goals and fitness levels of clients.

The original One2One BodyScapes personal training gym was one of the very first exercise facilities in the country exclusively focused on personal training. In doing so, Rob and his team were able to truly focus on the needs and wants of each individual client, helping many satisfied clients set, achieve, and exceed their fitness goals. The size and culture of the studios encouraged trainers to share their expertise, creating a community between trainers and clients. This personal approach to fitness struck a chord with clients, prompting the opening of more One2One BodyScapes locations across New England.

In 2004, after seeing the success of the One2One philosophy in action and many happy and healthy clients later, the BodyScapes team decided it was time to open a full-service fitness center that operated under the same philosophy as One2One BodyScapes and bring the One2One philosophy to life on a larger scale that everyone could benefit from! Bodyscapes Fitness would present new challenges, but the determination to provide members with a unique and personalized experience that led Rob to open his first One2One location proved to be enough. The opening of full-service gyms in Brookline, MA in 2008, Hingham in 2009 and Longwood Medical District in 2010 followed on the early success of BodyScapes Fitness in Southborough, MA. Through franchise partners the network of One2One training and BodyScapes fitness facilities continues to expand. In 2014 the team opened their first Crossfit facility in Brookline, MA.

Currently, Robert is disrupting the Personal Training market with Boston-based startup company, SPLITFIT. SPLITFIT was co-founded by high school friends, after realizing that Personal Training has become unaffordable and inaccessible to the average person. With SPLITFIT, Personal Training is now available On Demand at Gyms & Studios near you at an affordable price. No gym memberships required.

Hosted by Startup Grind and eTower. In partnership with the Blank Center.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Zumba
