All Day The Caprichos: Etchings by Emily Lombardo (Multi-Day Event)

The Caprichos is a series of etchings that are in direct conversation with and pay homage to Francisco Goya’s “Los Caprichos” of 1799. Both reveal the dark underbelly of cultural movements that ultimately serve to divide society across economic, racial, political, religious, and gender lines. Lombardo, an artist who investigates personal and cultural identity in her work, brings these issues to light through a queer feminist lens.

All Day Babson Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week (Multi-Day Event)
Babson College will celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week 2017 November 9-16; with a series of events and activities. The Babson events will be part of 35,000+ events in 170 countries celebrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and creat​​​ivity during GEW. More details to come.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare. During one week each November, GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey. These activities, from large-scale competitions and events to intimate networking gatherings, connect participants to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors — introducing them to new possibilities and exciting opportunities.

6:30 AM - 7:20 AM Wellness - Beginner/Intermediate Boot Camp
Boot Camp is a 50 minute, two day a week program designed to improve your cardio endurance, build strength and induce weight loss.  The personalized approach to group exercise makes the class fun and motivating in pursuit of results and your personal goals.  Instructor Craig Paris uses a variety of body weight exercises, resistance bands, agility drills, running, and plyometric training to activate multiple muscle groups and burn the maximum amount of calories during class.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a gentle exercise for body and mind.  With its roots in Chinese martial arts and traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi uses slow and gentle movements to build your balance, strength, flexibility and focus.  No matter your age or physical condition, you can practice Tai Chi.  Scientific studies support the effectiveness of Tai Chi in improving the lives of people with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, diabetes, and osteoporosis.  Most of all, Tai Chi is relaxing and fun.  So come as you are, in comfortable clothes, with flat-soled shoes.  You will learn the basic principles of Tai Chi as well as exercises and a short form you will be able to practice on your own.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Zumba

The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away. Originally created by Alberto “Beto” Perez in Columbia, Zumba® is a Latin inspired dance fitness class that combines interval training sessions with fast and slow rhythms to sculpt and tone your body while burning fat.  Our goal is simple: We want you to want to work out, to love working out, and to get hooked.  Zumba® fanatics achieve long-term benefits while experiencing an absolute blast in every calorie-burning, body-energizing class.  This class is perfect for all fitness levels and no dance experience is necessary!

Zumba®Toning - For those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles!  It works by utilizing the challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba®Toning Sticks or light weights, which helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged!  By using lightweight maraca-like toning sticks or light weights, Zumba Toning enhances sense of rhythm and coordination, while toning target zones, including arms, core and lower body.

2:45 PM - 5:45 PM Community Action Program: Math Academy

Math Academy takes place at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Framingham, MA. Math Academy works with 4th grade students on math concepts through interactive and engaging activities.  

Tuesdays 2:45-5:45 pm. Babson students will leave campus around 2:20 pm and return around 6:10 pm.

3:30 PM - 5:30 PM Community Action Program: Pusan Road (Framingham) Afterschool Program

The Afterschool Programs takes place at the Wellesley, Needham, and Framingham Housing Authorities. A housing authority is section 8 housing, a state or federally funded program aimed to assist low-income families pay for rent. The Afterschool Programs focus on providing mentorship through after school homework help, as well as providing activities that are both safe and fun for the children who live at the Housing Authorities. 

Tuesdays 3:30-5:30 pm. Babson students will leave campus around 3:00 pm and return around 6:00 pm.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Community Action Program: North Hill Book Club Program

Provides high quality, innovative, and personalized services that enrich senior’s lives with opportunities for personal growth, wellness and fulfillment. They are committed to being an advocate and partner in promoting healthy aging for individuals and families within our surrounding communities. Babson volunteers will be managing a book club for serval of the patrons of north hill. They will be reading and leading discussion.

This program takes place on Tuesday, 4-5pm. Babson students will leave campus around 4:45 pm and return around 5:15 pm.

4:00 PM - 6:00 PM GEW: Future Trends Fashion Industry Panel
The Fashion Entrepreneurial Initiative is a community/incubator that supports entrepreneurs interested in creating a positive social, environmental, and economic impact in the fashion industry.

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM MBA Impact Hour with Neil Smith
Join us on November 14th from 5 to 6pm in The Lewis Institute’s offices (Olin 240-249 suite) to have a discussion with Neil Smith, Co-founder and Managing Partner at Smith O''Brien about ​Lessons from the Field. 

MBA Impact Hours are real and relevant conversations about issues influencing business and society, and are designed to help Babson MBAs deep dive into issues of importance that will amplify the impact of their careers. They are typically held over light snacks at inside The Lewis Institute Offices (Olin 240-249 suite) from 5 - 6pm.

These conversations are open to Babson MBA students and alumni, but registration is required. To register, please email Jennifer MacDonald at jmacdonald2@babson.edu. Come prepared to join us for a good, engaged conversation.

6:00 PM - 7:00 PM VINYASA YOGA

In Vinyasa-style yoga, “Ujjayi” breath is connected to movement which creates a flow of poses that encourages relaxation in the body as well as awareness of the mind. This class will shift your focus from everyday life to present physical sensations. The poses will strengthen, detoxify, and open the body, leaving you feeling toned, invigorated, and inspired.
