7:00 AM - 8:00 AM Wellness-Power Yoga with Lauren Shaffer

Lauren Shaffer found yoga in 2011 as a stressed out college student in need of a calm and quiet spot to unwind. As a teacher, her mission is to provide students with a safe, sacred space with her guidance, knowledge and tools offered as support. She loves to teach a variety of classes from restorative to power, all of which tie breath with movement to a well thought out and sequenced flow. She includes the solid backbones of the practice—like functional movement and energetic organization—always presented with lightheartedness as she accommodate all levels. She also loves to bring some fun into her classes. Lauren’s focus is to ensure her students leave with their bodies feeling stronger, as well as a clearer mind helping them take on the rest of their day with a smile!

Please note that anyone participating in any of the Be Well@Babson programs must sign a waiver before beginning any program or activity.  Classes may fill up and are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  All of the Be Well@Babson programs are limited to Babson staff and faculty only and there are no exceptions that can be made.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Adult Cross Training (A.C.T)
Join Babson’s own Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for a training program which will heighten mental and physical fortitude through flexibility, balance, coordination, conditioning, strength, power and agility drills, exercises and routines.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM Wellness - Power Yoga

Power vinyasa yoga builds physical and mental strength and flexibility. Find your mind body connection as you link breath to movement in a fast-paced, energizing class. This class is accessible to most levels of fitness. Prior experience with yoga is recommended but not required.   These classes will be taught by Michele McLaughlin and Tracy Buckley.

12:15 PM - 1:00 PM Wellness - Runners Training Series
Would you like to take your running to the next level?
This 6-week training series is designed specifically to meet the needs of runners. The goal of the series is to enhance each participant’s running efficiency, strength and speed. All levels of runners are welcome. Each participant will work from their individual fitness level. The workouts will be tailored to meet the needs and fitness abilities of the participants.

Workouts will begin with a short warm-up run, and then will vary in content. Examples of workout content includes: speed work, hill work and strength and endurance exercises specific to a runner’s needs.

This 6-week series consists of weekly workouts on Wednesdays, September 19, 2018 thru Wednesday October, 24, 2018. Please meet at the benches out by the fields at 12:15 p.m. Workouts will be held outdoors, so please dress accordingly. (You will receive an e-mail if the workout will be held indoors due to inclement weather.)  Please wear appropriate running shoes and bring water to each workout.

In the Financing the Future series, hosted in collaboration with The Cutler Center for Investments and Finance, we will explore the crucial role of capital in driving social progress.

How will we finance our future? What new financing mechanisms are being created? What role do large corporations, NGOs, government agencies, community foundations, family offices, philanthropists and investors play? What's working? What's needed?

Investing in social progress and managing societal dilemmas is complex and takes time. It requires a new understanding, new forms of collaborative relationships, innovative financing schemes, and the moral and financial courage to put capital where the highest ROI is recalibrated and recalculated to accelerate economic and social progress.
