End Date: 10/11/2018End Time: 2:15 PM

Event Description:
Mexico is at the epicenter of a transformation in the global economy driven by technology and the end of the so-called “Washington consensus.” What happens in Mexico will have profound implications for other countries as well.  This talk will present the results of a study conducted by The Lexington Group for Mexico’s Business Coordinating Council (the top private sector coordinating body in Mexico). The study, designed to contribute to the private sector agenda for the incoming administration, used a scenarios method to propose approaches to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the light of rapid changes in technology and in the global economy. The study highlighted the key roles of innovation and entrepreneurship if Mexican businesses are to meet the UN SDGs’ social and environmental targets and maintain a competitive economy. However, it also underscored the need for careful governance of technology to address novel challenges and opportunities.
