Tea and the Taste of Climate Change

Event Description

Professor Selena Ahmed, ethnobotanist and author of The Tea Horse Road: China’s Ancient Trade Road to Tibet, will be at Babson on Monday, October 21 discussing “Tea and the Taste of Climate Change”: a presentation of her work on how climate change is affecting tea and society in China.

Dr. Ahmed specializes in tea research. She spent 4 years in Yunnan studying links between cultural practices, the environment, and human wellbeing associated with tea production and consumption. During the 2012-2013 academic year, Dr. Ahmed was a visiting faculty member at Dartmouth College’s Environmental Studies Program and Northeastern University’s Department of Earth and Environmental Studies. She was also a Visiting Fellow at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University and a Foreign Expert at Minzu University of China. In August, she became Assistant Professor of Sustainable Food Systems at Montana State University.
